TasWater to conduct plume dilution study at the Smithton Sewage Treatment Plant

TasWater contractors will be completing a plume dilution study at the Smithton Sewage Treatment Plant.

As part of ambient monitoring investigations for the Smithton Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), TasWater contractors will be completing a plume dilution study on the week beginning 20 March, 2017.

The study will involve the release of a tracer, rhodamine, at the plant discharge location.

The contractors will measure the dispersion of the plume through the water column using rhodamine concentrations.

Rhodamine is a red dye, depending on the turbidity of the receiving water, the dye may be visible for a short period of time.
