Smithton Christmas parade and lights competition information

The Smithton Christmas Parade will be held on Friday 15 December from 7pm.

The Rotary Club of Smithton is coordinating the 2017 Smithton Christmas Parade on behalf of the Circular Head Council.  

The parade will be leaving the Smithton Recreation Ground in Grant Street at 7:00pm. (Walkers are welcome to join the parade at the corner of Nelson and Gibson Streets if preferred).

For those entering a float in the parade, there following cash prizes are on offer:

Best Christmas Theme


Runner Up Christmas Theme


2nd Runner Up Christmas Theme


Best Community Entry


Best Business Entry


Best Business Vehicle (Trucks, Utes and Heavy Machinery)


Best Boys Decorated Bike (under 17 years age – must complete entry form)


Best Girls Decorated Bike (under 17 years age – must complete entry form)


This year businesses are also encouraged to enter their work vehicles – it would be great to see some large trucks and machinery.

Riders decorating their bicycles also have a chance to win - $50 for boys and $50 for girls.

If you are interested in taking part, complete the application form below and return it to either the Rotary Club of Smithton PO Box 171 Smithton,  or Council reception.

Lights Competition

If you light up your house or business for Christmas you should enter the Rotary Christmas Lights Competition.  There categories for displays including:

BEST LIT HOUSE & GARDEN – RURAL                      

ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD                                       


Simply fill out an entry form and be ready for judging by the 9th of December.
