Changes to the Dog Control Act 2000- Microchipping

There have been some amendments to the Dog Control Act 2000, that have come into effect in Tasmania in late 2017.

These new changes will require all owners of dogs to inform Council of the microchip number of their dog upon registration or re-registration.

If your dog is not currently microchipped or you have lost the number, please consult with your local vet to have your dog implanted or scanned for an appropriate microchip.

Council will be requesting this information upon new registrations and re-registration of all dogs.
